Having just spent hundreds of dollars on a new lens, the last thing you want to do is scratch up the new glass. That's where this bad boy comes in. The best part about it? You just spent a couple hundred dollars on a new lens, and probably don't have a lot left over, so the price on this is perfect. It's nice to see that Amazon is willing to stock generic equipment, because I find myself question sometimes why I need to spend $30 on a clear piece of glass that I'm really only using so I don't have to clean a lens and worry about it getting scratched up.

The threading on this filter fits my Tamron AF 28-75mm f/2.8 SP XR ZL Di LD Aspherical (IF) for Canon Digital SLR Cameras perfectly, and required very little effort to put onto the lens. After attaching it, I was able to look through my camera and see nothing, which was... Read more

3.0 out of 5 stars Does protect, but otherwise..., November 2, 2010

I only wanted a filter to protect two of the lenses I have, so I bought two of these and they mounted on the lenses very nicely. I have no complains and the price is just too cheap to believe, and I guess the best part is these are made in Japan, or so it says on the rims.

UPDATE (5-25-11):
After a longer period of using my lens with this filter, I have come to the conclusion that "You get what you paid for" to be VERY true. The filter DOES blur up images somewhat, and actually gives unwanted glare to your photos. I also found a certain level of definition loss when compared to photos that I have taken with the filter OFF.

I can't use this filter anymore, my only choice is to buy a pricier one that doesn't fog up my photos.

This filter cleaned up better than a more expensive Tiffen filter bought at the same time. As best I can tell there appears to be no distortion. The filter is made in Japan -- remember when camera used to be made there? (the Tiffen here in the US).
