BENRO C-058M8 Carbon Tripod Reviews
5 of 5 people found the following review helpful Great tripod at a reasonable price, By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: BENRO C-058M8 Carbon Tripod (Electronics) I have about six months of moderate use on this tripod and so far it's served me very well. It's not top of the line but it's of very good quality and a smart buy for the avid hobbyist like my self. Four leg sections is a good compromise, five is too many--I think.Although you can purchase tripods that pack smaller and slightly weigh less than this model my opinion is that you begin to pay a serious premium for minimal benefits. At about two pounds it's light and with a Really Right Stuff's BH-25 Ballhead (a great match for this tripod) I have no qualms carry this all over the Rocky Mountains. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful Carbon tripod, excellent for travel, By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: BENRO C-058M8 Carbon Tripod (Electronics) I have many cameras and heavy lenses. I also have a top of the Gitzo tripod, excellent but big and heavy. I needed something light but sturdy to be easily carried around and capable of handling my heaviest camera (Canon 1DS MII) and some moderately heavy lenses. I bought this one. Being used to the much heavier Gitzo, when I saw the Benro I was certain I would have to return it. However after having installed a good ball head and my camera with a 70-200mm zoom I was surprised by the stability of the tripod, so I kept it and I have used it a lot since. Its key advantages are its size when folded and its weight. It is a good one. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful Benro C-058M8 Carbon Tripod, Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: BENRO C-058M8 Carbon Tripod (Electronics) In my 50+ years of taking pictures, I've never been without a tripod. This one is the most expensive I've ever bought, but by no means top of the heap. But for the price, it's tops with me. I topped it with a ball mount, and for versatility, it gets two thumbs up from me. The carbon material takes a bit getting used to after using aluminum pods. The carbon seems a bit "sticky," but I think with use, it will smooth out. The bubble level is a nice touch, haven't seen the need for the built in compass, but with the prospect of tramping though the woods, it should come in handy. I like the leg action; the ability to stick one leg out to lean against a wall is great. My Canon EOS T1i has an HD movie capability, which I used to take movies of fireworks, and found the the ball mount is a bit cumbersome. A pan head would work better, and I would recommend it for movie work. That will be the next addition to my arsenal. The light weight is a big plus over aluminum. Both camera and tripod are...
